We enjoyed the time we spent working on one of many front-engined Ferrari Grand Tourers that have rolled off the assembly line in Maranello over the years. This car is a 612 Scaglietti, which has a V12 engine beneath the long hood, and is finished in a beautiful color combination of Blu Tour de France over Tan Leather. Blu Tour de France is an elegant, rich blue which is a variation of the shade of blue used on notable Ferrari models of the past, like the Daytona, and modern Ferraris like the 458 or the 812 Superfast among many other models.
Our friends at a local car dealership brought this beautiful car to us after it arrived from California. We spent a lot of time inspecting the car visually and with a paint meter, and concluded that it needed paint correction, as well as interior cleaning in the form of leather cleaning and conditioning, and spot cleaning of a few small areas of the carpeting.
Our paint correction process included correcting the tail lights to give them the highly glossy and new appearance that makes a car like this really stand out. Being sure that the prancing horse badges were all cleaned up and polished could not be missed either. With the paint correction and polishing completed, the visual depth of the paint increased, and under our studio lights the metallic flecks in the paint really popped.
A pair of Daytona-style seats are the focal point of the leather clad interior, and with so much leather trim in the car, we needed to make sure it was clean and supple. Our imported, specialty mild leather cleaner was used to clean and refine the leather surface prior to a leather conditioner being worked into the surfaces. While working in the interior of the car we cleaned up the shift paddles, the aluminum pedals, steering wheel, and used specialty silk cloths to avoid micro-scratches as we cleaned the gauge cluster and the face of the CD Player/Radio.
Not only did the interior and exterior of the car receive special treatment, we used our highly effective and safe Dry Ice Cleaning process to clean the engine bay of this V12 Ferrari Grand Tourer. Our advanced skill and knowledge of the dry ice cleaning process was very important as we used the process to clean the engine. Ferrari uses paint on their engines in areas one may not expect to find paint, but rather bare metal. Our knowledge of the Ferrari build process meant we knew when and where to dial back our equipment in order to achieve an excellent clean without compromising paint surfaces.
We have a new appreciation for the beautiful Blu Tour de France hue found on this car. The 612 Scaglietti was an interesting car to work on, and one that was easy on the eyes as it spent time being cleaned, refined, and protected in our studio.
